Thesis Painting II: The Arrival

This is the second piece for my thesis. I am am about 2/3 done with the painting of the panel. I have been taking in-process pictures, so I will make sure to post those soon.

I have been feeling a little restless lately. I feel really restrained this semester with producing art. Yeah, I feel like I am going in a better direction with my thesis, but that is the pretty much the only work that I have been able to make so far. All my other classes are non-art producing (except my web class). It makes me a little sad :( But next semester I think I will be on art over-drive because I plan to take 4 art-producing classes which will allow me to do some projects that I have been itching to produce (think: extinct bird illos on stationary, maybe letterpress, some more sticker designs). I really want to start making things that people can buy. I just miss drawing alot! sick of the papers and motion graphics...sigh.

Little Paper Planes

We had a guest today in class, Kelly Lynn Jones, a fine artist out of California who founded Little Paper Planes. She was really inspirational and shared many great resources for us to use to produce prints, promotional items, and just for inspiration. Little Paper Planes serves as online shop where illustrators are able to sell their zines, prints, accessories, and clothing. ------>check it out

I am kinda getting tired, tired of school since we are in week 7 of 15....but Amy's recent visit gave me a what I was missing from my family back in Cleveland. I was in this weird funk...but I think I am back to normal and more excited about my work. Yep. Kelly Lynn's presentation got me reinspired. Well thesis calls...

I was searching the internet for illustrators and happened upon this illustrator, caat, whose work really was exciting to me! She has such an assortment of areas on her website that are equally interesting. I got a kick out of the flash area and the tshirts.

Landscape (Painting I) for thesis

After about a week of frustration of trying to figure out what colors I am going to use in my first thesis painting, I am working out the colors in the computer. I am going to use those color comps to then actually paint.

Airplane flight animation

This animation is created by sequencing still images, so basically they are jpegs butted up one after another in After Effects. Turn on your music and enjoy.

Meteorite crashing in Peru

This illustration is about the meteorite that crashed into Peru that made a bunch of people sick due to the questionable smell that may have been given off by it.
