It makes me sad that Cleveland has been in the news a lot lately, the focus of stories on foreclosure and job layoffs. 10,000 vacant houses and one of the highest poverty rates in the country, it's sad that the place I grew up is now suffering the most with the turn of events with the economy.

my mom was telling me that houses are doing exactly as the above house shows, "No Copper." A house that was being renovated next to a family friend was burglarized of it's brand new copper pipes. Sad that something seemingly so mundane as pipes are still targeted because of what it is made out of.

This week, Harlem lost a great lady. Our neighbor, we called her Commodore, passed away suddenly from a heart attack. It was quite a shock to find out the sad news.
The first day Amy and I were looking at the apartment, she was on the stoop eating peanuts and offered us a handful, "Have some peanuts girls." She was a lifer on our block, been here for over 40 years. Always kind and generous, whether giving us pecans or zuccini from the community garden, she always looked out for us. And she would be outside shoveling our stairs after a fresh snowfall. I hope she is in a better place. She will definitely be missed.

lost yellow sunglasses
oh sad day. in my post-mimosa daze after brunch with miss lauren this sunday, i lost these sunglasses that i was on my way to return at urban.

and i found these, which i was going to get, but then sadly realized i had lost the bag somewhere, probably in the chaos of DSW.

at least somebody lucked out and got a free pair.
